Solution
Heavily stocked aquarium with siamese algae eater and shrimp. Also added cherry barbs which reproduced very rapidly to help meet nutrient demands of plants
Result
Stable nutrients and minimal algae. The aquarium ran successfully for about 2 years before I took it down prior to moving to Tampa, FL.
